Compared to standard plastic lenses like CR-39 and polycarbonate, MR-8 lenses are thinner and lighter, making them more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing, especially for stronger prescriptions.

MR-8 lenses also exhibit high impact resistance and mechanical strength, making them suitable for everyday and rimless frame use, as they resist deformation and breakage well. They have good resistance to UV light and scratches, often enhanced by special coatings.
